We've had several "wins" these past few years - and the following are just a few that have represented real savings to our members.

FAIR PAY ACT (as passed in 2004) SB 1561 - for public work, establishing fairness in payment & retainage practices
FAIR PAY ACT (revisions passed in 2005) SB 1001 - offering revision language to clarify retention language
RISK TRANSFER BILL (as passed in 2006) SB 324 - for private and public work, giving Contractors and Subcontractors protection from broad form indemnification language in contracts
OK IMMIGRATION BILL (as passed in 2007) HB 1804 - impacts all OK Employers as of July 2008
HB 1804 has requirements that will require OK employers compliance as of July 2008. The following information and links are provided for the benefit of our members:
- Federal government operates “ASVI” (Alien Status Verification Index).
- Social Security Administration provide “Wage Reporting and Social Security Number Verification Service.”
- New state law calls these “Status Verification Systems” (SVS). SVS also includes (a) “any equivalent federal program designated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security” and (b) any other independent third party system with an equal or higher degree of reliability.
Title 710 OKLAHOMA TAX COMMISSION ~ Chapter 65 SALES/USE TAX - change in effect June 2007 makes obtaining materials much easier for contractors working on church projects.
