NEW VIEW OKLAHOMA (former Oklahoma League for the Blind)
The Board of Directors in December of 2009 voted to adopt the New View Oklahoma Rehabilitation Training Center as the ASA signature community service project. With the help of the ASA members, we will be able to provide the League with a state of the art Rehabilitation Training Center that will serve the blind and vision impaired citizens of Oklahoma for many years into the future.
People will come to this center to learn independent living skills as well as computer and communication skills, which allows them to become more employable within our society. This will also be a great facility for classroom instruction for both the vision impaired citizens as well as their family members who care for them.
What we need now is to determine which portion of this project each member will be able to participate in. We will need all labor skills required for an interior build out: Electrical, HVAC, Glass, Drywall, Floor coverings, Painting, Doors and Windows. If a member cannot donate labor to this project please ask them to consider contributing financially either in the form of monies or materials.
The League’s headquarters are located in Oklahoma City; however, they are truly a statewide service organization with offices located in Tulsa, Jenks, Stillwater, Weatherford and Clinton. They also serve Oklahoma service veterans across the state from their locations in Lawton, Ada and other communities.
This is going to be a great opportunity for us to work together in a very meaningful community project and to bring some very positive public recognition to the Oklahoma chapter of the American Subcontractors Association.
